Mr. Seafoods was born from one simple question:
“Where can I get fresh fish?”

For founder Mickey Rose, living on an island known for its rich fishing industry, not having a reliable answer to that question just didn’t make sense. So, in 2007, after more than two decades in the seafood industry, he decided to take matters into his own hands—and Mr. Seafoods was launched.

A Life on the Water

Mickey grew up immersed in PEI’s fishing culture, working alongside his father off the island’s East Coast. His interest in the industry only deepened over time—first through formal education in quality control and seafood processing, and later through years of leadership in seafood plant operations.

From technician to general manager, Mickey built a career on understanding every stage of the seafood supply chain. He even brought that expertise to a national level, working with the Department of National Defence to help establish seafood contracts across Canada. As a consultant, he’s guided numerous plant startups in everything from product sourcing to management strategy.

A Local Business with Deep Roots

When Mickey and his wife Mary decided to open a permanent home for Mr. Seafoods, they envisioned more than a retail space—they wanted to create a community hub for fresh, local seafood. In 2015, that dream came to life with the opening of their shop at 61 Thompson Drive in Charlottetown.

Today, Mr. Seafoods employs a dedicated team of eight, continuing to serve locals, tourists, and restaurants with the same values it was founded on:
freshness, quality, fair pricing, and a direct connection to local fishers.
